Minnesota rent increase rule
For a periodic tenancy, Minnesota requires proper written notice before a rent increase; the Attorney General describes proper notice as one rental period plus one day. During a definite-term lease, rent cannot be increased unless the lease permits it. A landlord's rent-increase notice period also cannot be shorter than the notice period the lease requires from the tenant to quit.
