South Carolina's current Residential Landlord and Tenant Act permits a rental agreement to set rent and other lawful terms and separately restricts specified retaliatory rent increases above fair-market value after protected tenant activity. Section 27-40-770 supplies seven days for terminating a week-to-week tenancy and 30 days for terminating a month-to-month tenancy, but those are termination rules rather than a standalone universal rent-increase notice schedule. As of September 19, 2026, S. 825 remains pending in the Senate and its proposed 30-day/60-day rent-increase notice framework is not enacted law. Max Rental Tools does not configure a general statewide percentage cap from the current codified Chapter 40 and keeps automated ordinary rent-increase timing review-gated until the lease, tenancy, coverage and any program rules are confirmed.
